Renny's surgery

Organized by Angels For Animals Network(AFA)

2/9 He was able to get his surgery!!!!!
HUGE update everyone.

So this morning Dori received a phone call from the vet that someone called and made a $500 donation!! We were able to get him into surgery today as a space opened and we half of the funds needed to pay them(they needed half up front).

THEN we heard back from the Heigl Foundation whose extremely generous contribution covered the rest of the funds needed!!! Oh my gosh we were crying!!

Renny was in surgery for 3.5 hours...a long time... unfortunately his leg was so badly broken that they couldn't get the pins in properly and had to amputate his leg:(. We were upset, but it spares him the second surgery that would of been needed to remove the pins. He also now only has to be in the hospital tonight instead 2-3 nights, so overall this will be much easier on him and dogs adapt quite well to life on 3 legs<3

Because they aren't going to have to do the second procedure and as many follow ups his treatment is going to come in under the 3k estimate! We'll know the final price tomorrow, and updated the Heigl Foundation so the unused portion of their donation can go towards another animal in need:)

Dori picks him up tomorrow and I'll post photos for everyone.

I really can't thank everyone enough for making this possible for Renny. I really don't know what to say, it's just amazing the outpouring of love for this little pup in need.

Thank you so so much again,

AFA J'aime, Dori and most of all Renny who received a chance at life<3

2/8 Almost $900!
Hi Everyone,

We heard back from the orthopedic surgeon today regarding the cost of surgery for Renny. The total for everything including his surgery, follow up procedures to remove the pins, medications, follow up xrays etc. is $2700-$3000. And that's with the 10% off he gave us.

So, we REALLY need help. We have to have most of the funds in place before they'll do surgery - and he needs surgery asap. Please keep sharing his story for us. We're not a big rescue that has lots of resources but we're passionate about helping pups that are most in need.

Thank you again to everyone that has supported and prayed for Renny, his foster mom Dori and AFA.

Thank you so much everyone! We're at $360 for his Renny!!
We're talking with different orthopedic surgeons and trying to get the best price for his surgery. Unfortunately he needs pins in his leg etc. We're looking at minimum $2000:( So we REALLY need all the help we can get. Please email, Facebook, twitter this link to your friends for him.
I just want to thank everyone for supporting him. I know many of you contributed to Darby's surgery and we usually wouldn't do 'back to back' chipins but this emergency was emailed to me and AFA was his only hope. Otherwise he would of been taken to a shelter.

Thank you again for your prayers<3

His foster Dori has named him Renny, meaning small but strong<3
He's in good spirits, although he can't walk and is very tired. Dori has been by his side and made him a warm and comfortable bed. She's waiting to hear back from the surgeon regarding the details of the surgery needed.

AFA will update as soon as we hear.

Thank you everyone for your support and prayers<3

Dori his foster mom, opened her heart and her home to this little guy picked him up at the vet in Glendale and took him to a vet near her home in Simi Valley.

It's a bad break. They want to do surgery Monday or Tuesday.
He has a spiral Tib/fib fracture, sacral fracture, and ilium fracture. He also has lung contusions and possible injuries from the car. He needs surgery asap.
- His temperament has been great
- He's had pain meds, iv fluids, a sedative
- I have a CD copy of the x-rays
- they said he needs the surgery asap because his muscles will soon start to contract and make it more difficult to operate
- the specialist will determine post-op quality of life after he sees the x-rays
